Die Nirona-Werke von Nier & Ehmer aus dem sächsischen Beierfeld waren spezialisiert auf allerlei Geräte aus Stahl und Blech. In Deutschland war das Unternehmen eine Zeit lang führend in der Herstellung von Sturmlaternen. Im ersten Weltkrieg wurde die Produktion dann notgedrungen auf Stahlhelme umgestellt.

Im Sortiment führte man aber auch Teile für Autos, Fahrräder und Spielzeug- Grammophone, die ganz aus Metall gebaut wurden. Bereits 1925 wurde ein rundes, mit verschiedenen Sujets bemaltes Grammophon verkauft. Um 1928 kam dann mit dem Modell Suzy, eine viereckige Version auf den Markt. Typisch für alle Nirona Grammophone ist der glockenförmige Schallverstärker, der als sogenannter Umkehr-Trichter den Ton reflektiert.

At the beginning of 20th century, the "Nirona-Werke" from Beierfeld, Saxony / Germany was well-known for metal industry and leading in production of storm lanterns. During World War I, they produced of necessity needs steel helmets. The company manufactured also parts for automobiles, bicycles and tin-toys.

Later, "Nirona" became also a line of inexpensive talking machines. The Model "Suzy" was produced in the late 1920's. The gramophone plays the small children records and the 10" records. Characteristic is the bell-shaped reflector which sounds surprising loud and clear. The red painted case is exclusive made with tin-plate. The charming "Nirona" gramophone was certainly not only a toy for children!
